On Saturday 18th May Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust in collaboration with the local councils held a Year of Wellbeing festival in Broadgate, Coventry. As part of our engagement with local stakeholders LloydsPharmacy agreed to take part and showcase how community pharmacy can support health and wellbeing.
We decided to focus on general services and advice available in a typical community pharmacy and pulled together an eye catching summer health display which attracted people to come and have a chat.
There were 30 stalls and numerous activities going on throughout the day and LloydsPharmacy were the only commercial brand represented amongst the other health and wellbeing organisations.
Surprisingly, from the conversations we had, there is still a lack of awareness around what pharmacies have to offer. People were interested to hear about healthy living pharmacy, medicines support and locally commissioned services and some even took up the opportunity to have their blood pressure checked by Daisy Darkwa, Professional Standards Pharmacist.
The festival gave us a fantastic opportunity to raise the awareness of community pharmacy and, following the success of the event, we have already been invited to take part in future activities in different parts of the local area.
