From 1st July 2019 a legislation has come into force allowing the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) to issue Serious Shortage Protocols (SSPs).

SSPs are a potential way to help pharmacies manage any serious shortages of medicines that may occur, without needing to refer patients back to prescribers.

You can read more about SSPs on the PSNC website HERE.

Recent PSNC resources include a BRIEFING and a FLOW-CHART relating to SSPs.

We have added all these new resources to the LPC website for future reference. The page can be accessed on the following LINK.
(under Resources/Supply Chain/Supply Shortages from the main menu).
