  • The NHS CPCS will commence on 29th October 2019
  • Pharmacy contractors can now register to provide the service and claim the Transition payment supplement (£900 if claimed by 1st December 2019)
  • The draft service specification has been published and a draft toolkit for pharmacy teams will follow shortly

The launch date for the NHS Community Pharmacist Consultation Service (CPCS) has been set as 29th October 2019.

This date has been agreed by NHS England and NHS Improvement (NHSE&I), the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) and PSNC as part of the ongoing work to implement the first phase of the service, which will see NHS 111 call advisers referring suitable patients to community pharmacy.

To help pharmacy contractors and their teams to prepare to provide the service, which will connect patients who have a minor illness or need an urgent supply of a medicine with a community pharmacy, the draft service specification has been published on the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) website;  the final version will be published by NHSE&I once it has completed its journey through their internal governance process.

We have set up a new CPCS web page on the LPC  website, where you can find further information and useful links about this service. This page will be kept up-to-date as new information becomes available.
