We’re delighted to confirm that the 2nd annual Coventry Health and Wellbeing Awards will be run in 2020 to celebrate and share good practice that goes on across the city to improve health and wellbeing.  Nominations for the Health and Wellbeing Awards close on 31st March 2020.  The awards will be judged on work that has taken place during 2019-2020

In January 2019, NHS England published the NHS Long Term Plan, setting out its priorities for healthcare over the next ten years and showing how the NHS funding settlement will be used.

A key theme of the plan is prevention, as NHS England says it believes 500,000 lives could be saved over the next ten years by focusing on prevention and early detection. The NHS will focus on its aim to make the population ‘fit for the future’ by:

  • Enabling everyone to get the best start in life;
  • Helping communities to live well; and
  • Helping people to age well.

We are looking to award a community pharmacy who can demonstrate a community engagement project which addresses one of these three aims.

Whether it’s a large scale project or small, from coffee mornings to presentations for community groups, working with a local school, an event at a church, running a clinic in a local business. We’d like to hear about it.

Pharmacies are invited to submit a summary of the work, to include details of the communities they have engaged with and the outcome from the project (for example, education, social interaction, access to services, information to support self care etc).

Nominations will be judged by the LPC and shortlisted pharmacies will be invited to a ceremony in July 2020 where the winner will be announced alongside a number of other awards recognising the work that goes on across the public health workforce.

Last year, Vantage Chemist won this award. You can read about their innovative community engagement project HERE to give you some ideas.
