21% of pharmacies in the city provide this service with a further 17% planning on providing the service within the next 12 months.¹
Stoma Appliance Customisation (SAC) involves the customisation of a quantity of more than one stoma appliance, based on the patient’s measurements or a template. The service is performed by a trained and qualified professional. The aim of the service is to ensure stoma appliances are used properly and fitted accurately, this will improve the patients experience and reduce wastage.
If a prescription for a stoma appliance is handed into a pharmacy who does not provide the service, the prescription should be signposted, with patient’s consent, to the nearest local pharmacy that does offer the service to ensure the patient receives the best care.
