Coventry community pharmacies dispense approximately 5 million prescription items a year.¹ If only 1% of these items are not required by the patient, then this is a highly significant and unnecessary burden on the prescribing budget..

The electronic “Not Dispensed” scheme (eND scheme) allows the pharmacist to intervene and identify, and thus prevent dispensing of, those items included on repeat prescriptions which the patient does not actually require at that time. Pharmacists are usually the last healthcare professional in the medicines supply chain and are well placed to intervene where such cost savings can be made.

Additional support and commonly asked questions.

  • How do I become accredited to provide the eND scheme in Coventry?
  • Can the pharmacy claim for all not dispensed items?
  • What is the address for the online portal?
  • How do I get a login and password to access the service?
  • How do I get payment for this service?
  • What other information do I need?
How do I become accredited to provide the eND scheme in Coventry?

All community pharmacy contractors in Coventry are invited to provide this service to support all GP practices in the locality. The PCT delivered operational training, which may be cascaded down to others provided this is documented in the SLA. Alternatively, you can request a new training session. In addition, the SLA must be read, understood, signed and returned to xxx before starting to deliver the service.

Can the pharmacy claim for all not dispensed items?

No. The service is aimed at repeat prescription items but there are some exceptions.

Items excluded include:

  • Prescriptions not from Coventry
  • Acute or One-off items
  • Items where the pharmacy orders on the patient’s behalf
  • Repeat dispensing items

An initial flat rate of £3.00 per unit of service (item intervention) will be paid to cover data input and processing.

A further 10% of the savings for each item will also be paid to the contractor.

Payments will be received monthly by contractors as Local Payment 2 on FP34.

What is the address for the online portal?

http://www.pharmperform.co.uk

How do I get a login and password to access the service?

Login / passwords can be obtained by completing a faxback approval form from support@pharperform.co.uk – logins will be provided within 24 hours of a request being received

How do I get payment for this service?

All eND items are inputted on to PharmPerform portal, there are no paper based requirements. At the end of the month PharmPerform will upload all eND claims for payment.

What other information do I need?

Contractors are required to report back to the prescribers using a GP feedback PDF form which is available of the PharmPerform website.
